CoolSculpting® Elite

In addition to traditional CoolSculpting®, we are proud to be one of the first practices in New Jersey to offer CoolSculpting® Elite. Elite applicators are C-shaped, and come in 7 different shapes and sizes to better fit the body’s natural curves, creating improved contact with the skin’s surface. CoolSculpting® Elite removes 20-25% fat in a single treatment, versus traditional CoolSculpting® which removes 18-20% fat during each session.

A Consultation That's All About You

After a physical examination, we create a customized CoolSculpting® treatment plan based on your specific concerns. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals to determine whether CoolSculpting® or CoolSculpting® Elite is the right treatment for you. In some cases, patients decide they want more extensive fat reduction that can be achieved through a cosmetic surgery procedure such as Liposuction, Tummy Tuck, or a Mommy Makeover. It’s important to remember that CoolSculpting® works best for patients who are already at or near their ideal weight but looking to tone specific areas of the body.

How CoolSculpting® Works

The proven science behind CoolSculpting is a process called Cryolipolysis®, which is based on the fact that fat cells are more sensitive to cold temperatures than other types of cells. The CoolSculpting procedure uses controlled cooling that won't damage the skin or tissue surrounding targeted fat cells. Fat cells gradually crystalize, or "freeze," then die. In the weeks following the treatment, the body absorbs these dead cells and they are naturally removed through the body's lymphatic system.

What to Expect During Your CoolSculpting Session

A CoolSculpting treatment typically takes an hour, depending on the area or areas treated. The procedure begins with gel being applied to the targeted treatment area and then the applicators are positioned on the area. Applicators are designed specifically to fit different areas. Most applicators use vacuum suction to draw skin and fat up between 2 panels, and you'll feel some tugging. As the area cools, you may experience a tingling or stinging sensation for a few minutes before it becomes numb.

While experiences vary, most patients experience little or no discomfort during the duration of the procedure. Some people read, or scroll through their smart phones, while others may even nap.

What to Expect After Your CoolSculpting Session

Immediately after the treatment, our clinician will massage the treated area to smooth the frozen fat.  Because it’s a nonsurgical procedure, patients can return to work or other normal activities immediately after their session. Some soreness, redness or swelling can be expected, but these are minor side effects and usually resolve quickly.

Depending on your goals and treatment plan we created, you may return for additional sessions in a month or so. The initial results are usually seen a few weeks after your 1st session, as the fat cells die. Most patients see continued improvement for 2 to 3 months. Results vary for each patient.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of a CoolSculpting treatment depends on a number of factors. Prices correspond to the area or areas that you want treated and how many treatments are necessary to reach your aesthetic goal. At our Mullica Hill practice we create customized treatment plans based on what each patient tells us during the consultation. It's really not possible to provide accurate cost estimates until after that discussion. We do provide a written quote after the consultation, so you can review the costs associated with the procedure. We also offer financing to help patients pay for their treatments.

Treatments with the original CoolSculpting applicators typically took about an hour to complete when used on a single part of the body. The latest generation of applicators, however, often require shorter treatment times. Once we create a treatment plan, you'll be able to plan accordingly.

No, because cellulite is not fat. Cellulite appears when bands of connective, fibrous tissue pull on the skin from below, which creates a dimpled look. When fat pushes up through these bands, the appearance of cellulite is more pronounced. CoolSculpting reduces fat, but it won't affect cellulite.

The fact that CoolSculpting doesn't involve any downtime is one of the reasons why it's so popular. Even though you may experience some redness, swelling, and soreness, you can exercise after a CoolSculpting treatment. Most patients return to work or their normal daily activities after their procedures.

Both procedures are designed to reduce fat, but CoolSculpting isn't really considered an alternative to liposuction. At our Mullica Hill practice, Dr. Bidic, Dr. Gundlapalli or Dr. Sheck may recommend liposuction for patients who want a greater volume of fat reduction than CoolSculpting can accomplish. CoolSculpting is ideal for men and women who are active but have small pockets of fat that exercise and diet fail to reduce.

One of the great things about CoolSculpting is how many different areas of the body it can treat. The product comes with various interchangeable applicators that are designed to fit different areas of the physique, including the:

  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Bra fat
  • “Banana rolls” on the buttocks
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Double chin
  • Chest
  • Area above the knees and inner knees

Oftentimes more than one area can be treated in a single session.

Absolutely! CoolSculpting is a great treatment for people of all genders, including the manliest of men. CoolSculpting achieves results that are flattering to your body, even if you have a masculine frame. The idea is to reduce excess fat, which will reveal the contours and definition of the area.

CoolSculpting is not actually a weight loss technique but a targeted method for reducing fat cells in a specific area. You should not expect to lose a significant amount. It is possible you may see a difference on the scale afterward but certainly not guaranteed. People at or near their ideal body weight get the best results from CoolSculpting. When you’ve already achieved the weight and tone you want, but find stubborn fat lingers no matter what, those are great conditions for fat reduction with CoolSculpting.

Your body needs time to flush the frozen fat away. You should begin to see initial results three weeks after treatment. Results will look nearly final after two to three months, although minor improvement continues for up to six months.

It is possible to treat the same area more than once. You should wait the full three months to see the finalized results before making the decision to treat the area again, and at a minimum, you must wait 30 days.

There is no recovery from CoolSculpting in the sense that you don’t have to delay exercise, work, or other routine activities. It is normal to experience temporary side effects, such as redness, swelling, bruising, cramping, aching, itching, tenderness, and sensitivity. These side effects may last for two to three weeks.

The vast majority of people do not describe CoolSculpting as painful. There is a cold sensation, and the area usually becomes numb soon after. The device works by gently pulling the skin and fat into the applicator. It’s normal to feel a tugging, pinching, or pulling sensation as the applicators do their work. In general, treatment is tolerated quite well and requires no anesthesia or numbing medication.
