A Consultation That's All About You
Dr. Bidic is passionate about his work. His ultimate goal is to listen to your wishes and concerns and then safely create the results you desire. Long before your surgery begins, he is planning for your procedure.
During your consultation, Dr. Bidic spends ample time face to face discussing your needs and expectations. He educates you about the procedure and determines the techniques and breast implant options that best suit your body type and goals, including:
- Implant placement – either over or under the muscle
- Incision pattern – most commonly in the inframammary fold (breast crease), around the areola, or in the axillae (armpit)
- Implant type – saline or silicone; shaped or round; ultra-high, high, moderate or low profile
Dr. Bidic uses 3D digital photography and imaging to help you evaluate your options. This allows both you and him to get a full visual understanding of your goals and to develop a surgical plan that achieves the outcome you envisioned.
If Dr. Bidic believes it will enhance your results and satisfaction, he may present additional or alternative treatments, such as a breast lift. As your goals become his goals, he develops a treatment plan that empowers you to proceed with confidence.
Breast Implant Options
Women who are considering breast augmentation for the first time, or who are thinking about exchanging older implants for a new generation, have more options today than ever before. Below is an overview of the choices Dr. Bidic offers:
Most patients who are thinking about getting breast augmentation know that breast implants are filled with either saline or silicone, which are both approved by the FDA. Each material has unique benefits and the choice is based on a patient's personal preference.
- Saline implants are filled after they are inserted, so Dr. Bidic can fine tune them to ensure symmetry. Because they aren't pre-filled, smaller incisions are needed than for silicone implants.
- Cohesive gel implants and form-stable gel implants (often called "gummy bear" implants) are pre-filled, and many patients believe they feel and look more natural than saline implants.
Both saline and silicone implants can be either round or anatomically shaped to resemble the slope of natural breasts. The outer shell of shaped implants is textured to help prevent them from rotating within the pocket Dr. Bidic creates. Round implants can be smooth or textured, and many women choose them because they provide a fuller look in the top of the breasts. Anatomic implants are sometimes called teardrop or contoured implants, and many women choose them for a more subtle enhancement.
The implant profile essentially describes how much an implant projects from the chest. The profile is a key factor in making sure implants look proportional to the rest of your body. Certain profiles create more upper fullness in the breasts, which some patients prefer. Other patients want implants with a wider base and lower profile. Profiles for round implants include:
- Moderate plus
- Ultra high
Anatomical implant profiles refer to the height of the different implants. During your consultation, Dr. Bidic takes measurements that help in determining which profile is most appropriate given your unique body characteristics and your cosmetic goals.
Breast Augmentation Cost
The cost of breast augmentation surgery in New Jersey can vary widely from patient to patient depending on factors such as which style of implants are used and whether other procedures are done at the same time. At American Surgical Arts, breast augmentation on its own typically costs from $5,000 to $6,500. Dr. Bidic strives to keep his prices competitive within the region, and he offers financing options to help his patients achieve the results they desire.
Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
On the day of surgery, before going into the operating room, he makes markings on your breasts that serve as a guide for his surgical maneuvers. He arrives for surgery with about 2 to 5 implant options that he believes, based on his thorough understanding of your goals, will work for you. He employs the same implant sizers utilized during complex reconstruction cases, and ultimately selects those that best match your body and your desired results. These are just some of the ways that he goes above and beyond for his patients.
Advanced 3D imaging lets you see the possibilities.
We use VECTRA 3D imaging to create a remarkable simulation of your projected surgical results. You and Dr. Bidic can make virtual adjustments until you're both clear on the look you want to achieve.
What to Expect After Surgery
During the time following surgery, you will need someone to drive you home and stay with you for the first night. You can expect some temporary soreness and swelling, but support garments and oral pain medication can help alleviate those symptoms.
Your activity will be restricted for 3 weeks – no lifting anything over 15 pounds, no activity that raises your heart rate above 100, and no soaking in tubs, pools or spas. You will visit with Dr. Bidic for follow-up assessments at 1 week, 4 weeks and 3 months.
Swelling may take several weeks to subside, and your breasts can take up to several months to "settle" into a softer, more natural appearance. It is important that you avoid underwire bras for 12 weeks following surgery, as these can interfere with proper healing.
