Frequently Asked Questions about CoolSculpting®

To many people, CoolSculpting in South Jersey is nothing short of a miracle treatment. With effortless fat loss, no downtime, and minimal side effects, it’s one of the most in-demand nonsurgical body contouring treatments I perform.

But many people still want to know exactly how CoolSculpting works, what kind of results they can expect, and if they are a good candidate.

These are just some of the things my patients want to know about this transformative procedure. To help you make an informed decision about whether CoolSculpting is for you, here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that uses a special fat-freezing technology to destroy unwanted fat. CoolSculpting was developed in 2008 and became FDA-approved for the flanks in 2010. Since then, it has become a favorite for nonsurgical body contouring among plastic surgeons in South Jersey.

CoolSculpting works by using controlled cooling to freeze unwanted fat cells so that they die and are naturally removed from the body. This process is called cryolipolysis. Once destroyed, the fat cells are gone for good.

What are the benefits of CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting can help you remove stubborn fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. When compared to traditional methods of fat removal, CoolSculpting offers many benefits. It’s nonsurgical and noninvasive – meaning there are no needles, incisions, or scars. It can also be performed quickly and discretely with no downtime. (Many people have CoolSculpting performed over their lunch break)

Who is the right candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting works best for people who are already in shape and at a healthy body weight, but who struggle with isolated areas of fat. People who have sagging skin in addition to excess fat are usually not good candidates for CoolSculpting. Similarly, individuals who are hoping to lose a large amount of weight are also not good candidates.

A good way to determine whether you can benefit from CoolSculpting is to do a “pinch test.” If you have a pinchable amount of fat — and are in good physical shape — CoolSculpting may benefit you.

Which areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting now offers many different applicator shapes that can fit to several areas of the body. Some of the most common areas I treat with CoolSculpting are the stomach, flanks, back, thighs, arms, and chin.

What are the side effects of CoolSculpting?

My patients who have CoolSculpting usually experience some redness, soreness, and light bruising after treatment. However, these are temporary side effects and most people find they resolve quickly.

What results can I expect from CoolSculpting?

It usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks after your CoolSculpting treatment for your results to appear – with the final results visible after about 3 months.

Most people who are treated with CoolSculpting notice that their body looks slimmer after just 1 treatment. CoolSculpting has been shown to reduce the number of fat cells in a treated area by 20 to 25%. With multiple treatments, you’ll notice even greater results.
