After your liposuction procedure, maintaining a consistent weight might be challenging. However, to protect your results and ensure they are long-lasting, you will need to commit to a few lifestyle changes. At American Surgical Arts, Dr. Sean Bidic, Dr. Vinay Gundlapalli and Dr. Casey Gene Sheck can help you achieve an appealing body contour and provide you with detailed post-operative instructions to help you form a healthy lifestyle. To get you started, here are some tips to help you maintain your liposuction results for as long as possible.
Eat a Balanced Diet
One of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle is a balanced diet that provides your body with all of the nutrients it needs. Processed, sugary, or fatty foods are not only more calorie dense, but also provide less satiation than natural foods rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber. Try to limit the amount of simple carbohydrates and saturated fats in your diet, including soda, beef, pork, and dairy. Instead, try to get most of your calories from lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
A great way to stave off excess weight is to exercise regularly. If you are not used to exercising frequently, try performing some light physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day. You can start with walking or cycling and gradually build up to more vigorous exercise like weight training or jogging.
Have Smaller Meals More Often
To prevent hunger throughout the day, consider having 5-7 small meals per day rather than 2-3 large meals. This will not only increase your metabolism, but also help improve your energy levels. At each of these meals, try to drink at least 8oz of water. This also helps curb cravings and keep your energy up.
